Pat Monahan is celebrating his daughter who acts like summer and walks like rain.
In fact, the Train frontman shared a rare and touching tribute to daughter Autumn Monahan for her 16th birthday.
“Happy Sweet 16 to my strong, beautiful, funny, smart daughter,” Pat wrote in a Sept. 26 Facebook post alongside a picture of him and Autumn embracing while on a beach. “You are a magical being and I love you and appreciate you for all the light you bring to all of our lives.”
The “Hey, Soul Sister” singer—who shares daughter Autumn and son Rock Richard with wife Amber Peterson, as well as son Patrick and daughter Emelia with ex wife Ginean Rapp—then went on to send well wishes for Autumn’s future.
“I hope you have an amazing birthday and an incredible year,” the 55-year-old continued. “You deserve it. Keep being awesome.”
For her part, Autumn celebrated her big day with her own birthday post, including pictures of herself posing in pink dresses, rocking a tiara on top of her blonde locks and blowing out birthday candles. In the caption, she quipped, “Watch out she’s a driver now.”
And she’s not pumping the brakes on adventures just yet, having kicked off the year on a family trip to Hawaii. “What happens in Hawaii stays in Hawaii,” she wrote alongside tropical vacation photos with dad Pat, brother Rock and mom Amber.
So, what else is the teen up to these days? Well, she’s a big music lover just like her father. In fact, Autumn is a Swiftie, having attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Seattle in July, and she more recently joined a group of friends at Washington’s Watershed Music Festival featuring Luke Bryan and Old Dominion in August. As Autumn wrote alongside pics of their country-inspired ‘fits, the weekend was all about “tailgates and tanlines.”
And though Pat’s daughter may be growing up before his eyes, the “Drops of Jupiter” singer has always prioritized his love for his children.
“There will be times where you give a smaller, younger child love and affection,” Pat told People about parenting in an interview published August 2020. “Then you look over at the other child and they’re watching you and you go, ‘Here’s the other half of my love.'”
