Two adults and one child were found dead in a Kansas City, Missouri home during a welfare check on Monday, police said.
Officers were called to the home in the Northland around 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Sgt. Phil DiMartino of the Kansas City Police Department told USA TODAY.
Responding officers first found a boy dead inside the home. A man and woman were also found dead in another part of the home.
Family member called in welfare check
DiMartino told the Kansas City Star that a family member called in the welfare check after the child did not arrive at school, and the woman did not show up to work.
All three had “apparent bodily trauma,” and police are investigating the deaths as a homicide, DiMartino told USA TODAY.
"Investigators are working diligently to try and identify all the parties involved. This will help determine if there is a relationship between any of the parties or their relationship to the residence," he said.
DiMartino asked that if anyone has seen or knows anything to call police directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS.
Police said there is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
